If you’ve used Godox battery-powered lights for any length of time, you will have undoubtedly come across the many horror stories about how the batteries die (or become horribly dormant) after being left unattended for a while and, even worse, how to tear them apart, use a variety of electrical tools etc to reset them and so on and so forth. Seriously, just Google it and you’ll find dozens - if not hundreds - of sites and videos dedicated exactly to this. Which you have to admit, it’s sort of horrible and cool at the same time: horrible because this is an ongoing problem that somehow Godox have chosen to not address and cool because there are ways to fix it when it happens. Should that make us happy? Well, not really, but it is what it is.
BUT, if the same thing ever happens to your Godox AD1200 Pro high capacity battery (the WB1200H), you will not find ANY posts or any videos to reset it. Now, some of you, the more technically inclined ones, will follow the general instructions and take the poor thing apart and try and reset it - I’m sure it can be done with enough knowledge and imagination - but that would pretty much invalidate your warranty and these things are very expensive and hard to come by. The absolutely AWESOME news is that you actually don’t need to do this! Not for the AD1200 battery. Why? Because there’s an easier and better way to do this!
Look at the back of your battery, where the handle is and you will see the 4 tiny battery charge level indicators and, next to them, a small, oblong, little light, about 4mm long (see the image below).
Now, to the average person that would appear as an indicator but, wouldn’t you guess it, it is not. It is a reset button and the only thing you need to do is press it for about 2’’ (you will see the indicator lights light up for a second or two) and that’s it! you’re done. You can now plug in your battery to the charger and you’ll see the battery come to life and charge normally.
There - good news all around! (now, if only Godox would do the same for the other batteries too, ey?
